Jordan Shapiro believes that a relationship built on trust and value can change your life. Her approach to therapy is simple: through a blend of honesty and warmth, she helps clients realize they are more than their worst thoughts about themselves. Jordan works with clients to uncover underlying limiting beliefs and emotions, helping to restore confidence in themselves and foster a better understanding of their thoughts, feelings, and reactions.
Jordan is passionate about working with clients who are experiencing anxiety, depression, difficulty adjusting to major life transitions, imposter syndrome, or career-related stress. Her primary goal is to improve the quality of her clients’ lives and relationships. She uses an eclectic approach, incorporating talk therapy techniques as well as cognitive behavioral and emotional regulatory skills, to help clients explore what is making them feel stuck.
Jordan considers her clients the experts on their own lives, and her role is to guide them in uncovering negative patterns so they can live more engaged, fulfilling lives. Her aim is to have clients leave each session feeling understood, cared for, and hopefully a little calmer.
Originally from Miami, Florida, Jordan moved to New York City to earn her Master’s degree at Columbia University’s School of Social Work. In addition to providing therapy, she supervises second-year graduate interns obtaining their degrees in clinical social work. Outside of sessions, you can likely find her petting the nearest dog or scouting out New York City’s best chocolate chip cookie.
