Psychiatry at Be.WELL

At Be.WELL, we understand that each individual has unique and personalized needs when it comes to healing, finding happiness, and taking care of their mental health. What works for some, may not always work for another client, and it is our job to find the best fit for each person’s individual mental well being. We strive to take a holistic approach to mental health and healing, that may include biomedicine. Our integrated team includes practitioners who are certified and well versed in the use of medication to nurture people’s healing process.

What is Psychiatry and How is it Different From Psychotherapy?

Psychiatry, like Psychotherapy, is used to help treat all types of mental health challenges, from stress and anxiety, to personality disorders, depression, and trauma. The key difference between psychiatry and psychotherapy, is that psychiatry can use medication, in addition to other therapy techniques, to treat patients’ mental health challenges. At Be.WELL our team works together in order to deliver the best, most holistic and individualized care plan to each of our clients. The psychiatrists on our team are here to help patients who would benefit from adding medication to their mental health care plan.

Child and Adolescent Psychiatry

Treating children and adolescents who are suffering from mental and emotional health challenges is particularly important, so that they can live a full and healthy childhood. The psychiatrists at be.Well understand that treating young people must include a holistic approach that takes family, school, friends, and other outside factors into consideration, from diagnosis to treatment. It is also important not to over pathologize children and adolescents in the therapy process, and at Be.WELL, we see the child as more than just a set of symptoms. Each patient is given the support and grace they need in order to thrive at home, at school, and with their peers. We understand that medication is to be used in a healthy way, as to not over medicate and families are given the training and tools they need to continue giving their children support at home.

Child psychiatry at Be.WELL includes:

  • Comprehensive Evaluation
  • Diagnosis
  • Treatment, that may or may not include medication
  • Family Therapy
  • Parent Training

Adult Psychiatry

Many adults who suffer from mental and emotional health challenges, ranging from mild to severe, may benefit from the use of medication. Adult psychiatry, like with children and adolescents, takes the entire person into consideration while diagnosing and treating mental health issues. At Be.WELL, our psychiatrists look at a patient holistically, which includes intergenerational trauma, race, gender identity, family, work stress, and other factors. Many adults find aging to be particularly difficult. A psychiatrist can help adult patients come to terms with their life as it is, and find new beginnings filled with hope.

  • Comprehensive Evaluation
  • Diagnosis
  • Focus on achieving life goals
  • Treatment, that may or may not include medication, that includes identity and stage of life

Is Psychiatry Right For You?

Caring for your mental health is extremely important, and also extremely personal. Finding what works for you may take time, so remember to be patient with yourself and grant yourself grace throughout the healing process. Many people find the addition of medication a helpful step in their mental health journey. Medicine can help people move forward more quickly, and may lessen their suffering.

Psychiatry might be a good choice for you if you are finding it difficult to get through the day, or if your daily quality of life is impaired by your suffering.

Psychiatry is used to treat many disorders that can include:

  • Bipolar Disorder
  • Mood Disorders
  • ADHD
  • Schizophrenia
  • Severe Depression
  • Panic Disorders
  • Anxiety
  • Persistent Worry
  • Sleep Disorders

Medication can often help individuals get back to functioning and reclaiming their daily well being. If things like sleeping, eating, and getting through a work day are challenging, a psychiatrist may be able to help. The goal of psychiatrists, like those at Be.WELL, is to help our patients, with the use of medication, get stronger, and transform into a healthier version of themselves.
