Susan Miller, LCSW
Being yourself, being authentic, may be harder than it sounds. Susan Miller specializes in creating an accepting and supportive environment where her patients can begin to visualize and actualize the changes that they seek for themselves and within their relationships. Reaching out for help can be most difficult during these times—it takes courage and strength—Susan recognizes and appreciates these initial steps her patients have taken in seeking help.
Susan has extensive experience working with individuals, couples, and families who may struggle with anxiety, depression, life transitions, grief & loss, and their relationships. She believes that therapy is a collaborative process and works together with her clients to strengthen their ability to reflect upon and cope more effectively with their current concerns, conflicts, and pain.
Using an integrative, flexible approach to treatment, Susan focuses on the specific needs of each individual, couple, and family. She has been trained in and utilizes psychodynamic, interpersonal, and relational psychotherapy modalities to best fit her client’s needs. Susan also brings in mindfulness and cognitive behavioral strategies (CBT) to address problems more holistically.
Her long held view that each person has the ability to change until they take their last breath supports her fluid approach to therapy. She is committed to building a meaningful therapeutic relationship, one that facilitates emotional and behavioral growth for her patients.
Since a young adult, Susan herself has been engaged in consistent individual therapy, supported by couples and family counseling at different points, as her personal and professional life has evolved. She recognizes the value in finding the right fit with a therapist. Susan brings an open mind to each session; she sees, hears, and understands her patients. Susan is passionate about helping her patients effectuate the changes they want for themselves and their relationships, leading to a more satisfying, brighter, and productive life.
